WORLD THALASSEMIA DAY-2026

Was observed globally on May 8, 2026, led by the Thalassaemia International Federation. The official theme was “Hidden No More: Finding the Undiagnosed. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body does not make enough haemoglobin, a red blood cell protein that carries oxygen to the cells in the body. So our college OBGY nursing department and SNA Unit has celebrated this day along with the collaboration of FOGSI & IMA, Chandrapur on the theme of “MUKTA”. So, on 8th May, 2026 at 2:00 PM-4:00 PM at Vishwanand auditorium Hall , LDSVZNC; this lecture was attended by 8th semester, 7th semester, 5th semester, 4th semester and 2nd semester students from BSc. Nursing was from Late Dr. Sau.Vasudha Zade Nursing College, Chandrapur and 2nd year and Is year students from & Vishwanand College Of Nursing GNM. The programme started with lighting the lamp and welcoming of chief guest all the members of IMA & FOGSI, Chandrapur and Co-Ordinator of MUKTA Project, Chandrapur of Guest Lecture on Thalassemia was organized by FOGSI and IMA, Chandrapur under the theme of “MUKTA”. Guest lecture session was conducted on topic of Thalassemia. The Importance of Thalassemia Day given by 1st guest Dr. Kotpalliwar madam (Obstetrician and gynaecologist, chandrapur) on the topic of “awareness on thalassemia”. Following it our 2nd guest Dr. Shalaka Mamidawar (Obstetrician and gynaecologist, chandrapur) took on topic of “Awareness and Prevention of Thalassemia” and lastly Dr. Rujuta Mundhala (Obstetrician and gynaecologist, chandrapur) took guest lecture on “screening and testing of Thalassemia”. In this lecture the speakers gave deep information regarding Thalassemia, its awareness and prevention, screening and testing. And programme came to an end with vote of thanks.
